MELTEM İNAN’S BİOGRAPHY

Meltem İnan started her carrier as a foreign affairs reporter in 1994, in the nationally popular news programme called ‘the 32.nd Day', broadcasted in Show TV and Channel D. Two years later she started working as the Foreign Affairs Reporter at the News Desk of Channel D. The reports she had prepared during the war in Northern Iraq caught the attention of the well known International journalist Coşkun Aral. Shortly after she started working with him in the documentary prgramme called ‘Haberci-Reporter’ for 6 years in which she travelled 54 countries all around the World.

During her years in Haberci she prepared episodes that attracted the attention of the World News Agencies. The interviews she made with the 14th Dalai Lama and Richard Gere were sold to News Agencies and magazines around the World.

The episodes she prepared over the İban tribe living in the Sarawak jungle in Malaysia, the interviews with Alberto Korda and Hemingway’s fisherman friend that inspired him to write his novel ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ , the Santeria Rituals in Cuba, the zero gravity flight in the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Center, The Carnival of Venice, The Amazon Basin in Peru, the Potosi Mines in Bolivia, the Nuba tribe in Sudan were all broadcasted later by the German Channel ZDF by the name ‘Go East Go West’

The documentary she prepared about the Penetentiary Prisons in the USA, helped her win one of the most important journalism awards in Turkey. “Çağdaş Gazeteciler Derneği- 2001 En iyi Belgesel Ödülü.”- “ Progressive Journalists Association- 2001 Best Documentary Award.”
